FYI re the Japanese birth homes, a Japanese-Brazilian foundation called JICA has sent dozens of Brazilian midwives to Japan to work and study in the maternity homes with the Japanese midwives and they have returned to their country enriched and empowered--some of them have already started home birth practices, something very new in Brazil. So the global beat goes on in birth!
